A variety chosen to join Blue Ribbon Blooms™ will

  • Demonstrate the best flower and growth performance within its variety group.
  • Consistently demonstrate its best performance in weather conditions and soils common in the Greater Cincinnati-Dayton area.
  • Demonstrate good genetic resistance to common foliar and root diseases.
  • Require the least amount of maintenance within a particular variety group.
  • Quickly rebound with new blooms after a hard rain.
  • When possible, demonstrate the ability to flower well even when daylight hours are fewer than dark hours; that is, to be day-length neutral.
  • Demonstrate excellent plant uniformity throughout the variety.
